     Savor

Welcome to my blog. Get comfortable and enjoy every bit of the story.

Make room for more!

I had a really cute skirt once; I wore it out a lot because I liked how good it looked on me. I got it myself and it was such a good buy. I literally wore it for years, and then I had to restrict myself to wearing it indoors alone because it was short, but it still had a special place in my heart. One blessed day, I got home from school wanting to wear my skirt as usual, but I couldn't find it again. I searched for it for days, but I didn't know where it was. So, I asked my mom. Then she said, she threw it away. You threw what away? My heart skipped two beats. I stood there in disbelief hoping she was joking because she had to be joking. My own skirt.

Why?

"It's already old and it's too short." She responded. You can guess just how I felt.

Just like me, it could be difficult most times to let go of things that we have and embrace the new. Some people struggle to let go of the past and focus on the present or even look ahead. Some won't even let go of their old worn-out clothes and buy new ones. It's understandable. You have just simply gotten used to what seems to be familiar and comfortable. You have also grown so accustomed to it that you don't want to think otherwise. People would rather stick to things they know, people they are used to than launch out again.

You're not alone in this line of thought. I'm also in this WhatsApp group. I didn't want to write this blog post because it didn't seem like what I wanted on my blog. It did not look like my pattern of writing at all. I just wanted to write an article that will make everyone comfortable and encouraged. Nothing too serious. So yeah, it is easy to stick with the familiar. It also seems "safe." Every other person even seems weird for going in that unfamiliar direction.

I was studying my Bible and a parable of Jesus that had never really made sense to me came home in an unusual way. So, unusual, that I knew that it had to be God speaking to me.

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins. But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.” Luke 6:38-39 NLT

The old is just fine.

If you are too rigid in your mind, sticking to old patterns without giving room for God and having an open/ready heart to hear God always, you might miss out on what God is doing and be totally left behind. You have to be constantly seeking God with an open heart. God can move in a way that you do not expect and can't fathom. He can do things beyond your wildest imagination.

No human being or any being both in heaven and earth can ever fully grasp the omniscience of God. Even the twenty-four elders standing before the throne of God, worship him day and night as layers of God's glory, wisdom, and power are continually unveiled. There's always something about God to behold.

So, if you are stuck with an old way of thinking or doing things, refusing to do the ridiculous thing God is saying to you. You would not be able to embrace the new thing God is doing and might never be able to partake of His move on Earth. The Pharisees prayed and waited so long for their salvation but in the end, they couldn't receive it because it just did not fit into the small box in their minds that captured the things of God. They expected the Messiah to come as a King who would overthrow the Roman Kingdom and make Israel the dominating nation. But God surprised their way of thinking. Their minds could not grasp what God was doing. They refused to let go and embrace the new thing God was doing. They couldn't accept Jesus as their savior.

Peter could not receive a ministry to the Gentiles because he had already boxed God into his old pattern of thinking that salvation was meant for the Jews alone. Mary was exceptional, she was open to however God was moving, only privileged to be used by God.

God moves on anyway because His plans must be fulfilled.

Can God give you a vision that is one-of-a-kind? That doesn't really seem to fit into the books? Can He show you what He is doing at the moment, and you would align rightly?

“This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, The God who summons horses and chariots and armies— they lie down and then can’t get up; they’re snuffed out like so many candles: “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’ —the coyotes and the buzzards— Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sunbaked earth, drinking water for the people I chose, the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me.” Isaiah‬ ‭43:16-21‬ ‭MSG‬‬.

Take off every bias in your mind so you won't miss God. Don't keep going over old history. Be alert. Be present. Don't keep reminiscing the old, saying that this is how I expect God to show up. Don't try to frame God into what you feel like He should be. What if He uses another means entirely?

If you know it is God, Trust Him and follow Him on that unusual path. Don't box God. Embrace the new!

Only those who will embrace the new will partake of the move of God in their generation.

So, "Make room for more!"
